Henry Finn, M.D.

Henry A. Finn, M.D., F.A.C.S., is internationally recognized for his skill in hip and knee replacement surgery. With more than 25 years of experience in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Finn specializes in adult reconstructive surgery and has led approximately 10,000 surgical procedures. He is also a leader in devising and applying the latest techniques, including contemporary minimally invasive and rapid-recovery approaches, advanced analgesic techniques, cosmetic wound closure, partial knee replacement and hip resurfacing. In addition to performing hundreds of joint replacements each year, he has combined his knowledge of surgical oncology and joint replacement surgery, prosthetic design, allograft transplantation and soft-tissue reconstruction to address the most difficult “limb salvage” adult orthopedic reconstructive problems affecting the hip and knee.
Dr. Finn was twice listed among America’s Top doctors in Orthopaedic Surgery and Joint Replacement in the Consumers’ Research Council of America’s Guide to America’s Top doctors. Dr. Finn also has received numerous times the distinguished honor from his peers of being named in “Chicago’s Top Doctors” in Chicago magazine.
Many of the devices that Dr. Finn has invented are in wide use at major medical centers in the United States and abroad. He is the designer of the Finn Knee™ System, which is utilized for reconstruction of knees with difficult problems. The Finn Knee™ was recognized as one of the most significant advancements in the field of orthopedics in the last century in the millennium edition of Orthopedics Today, as well as by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons as one of the more notable orthopedic innovations in the 75 years of their existence.

Jeffrey Ackerman, M.D.

Dr. Jeffrey Ackerman is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee reconstruction and hip preservation. Fellowship trained in complex primary and revision hip and knee replacement procedures, he performs minimally invasive anterior and posterior approach hip replacements. Dr. Ackerman is one of few surgeons trained in hip arthroscopy and open pelvic osteotomy surgery.
Dr. Ackerman treats adolescents, young adults, and athletes with hip disorders including acetabular labral tear, femoroacetabular impingement problems, hip dysplasia, avascular necrosis and sequelae of pediatric hip problems.
A native of West Bloomfield, Michigan, Dr. Ackerman graduated from The University of Michigan and The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine with honors. He completed his residency at William Beaumont Hospital, where he was elected Chief Resident by his colleagues. He completed fellowship training at Washington University in Saint Louis, one of the nation’s top orthopedic centers in adult reconstruction, hip preservation and resurfacing.
Dr. Ackerman believes in the comprehensive care of his patients by providing the highest level of individualized care. He presents all available treatment options, including nonsurgical and surgical procedures to improve patients’ overall health and activity.
Serving as a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, Dr. Ackerman published several scientific publications and serves as editorial reviewer for the Journal of Arthroplasty.

Preston Wolin, M.D., is the director and founder of the Center for Athletic Medicine, Ltd. Founded in 1991, the center provides multispecialty care to every level of athlete, from children to professionals.
Dr. Wolin has served as a team doctor for DePaul University, Loyola University, University of Illinois at Chicago, the Chicago Fire (Major League Soccer), United States Soccer National Men’s and Women’s Teams and the Windy City ThunderBolts (Frontier League in Professional Baseball). He is also the team doctor for Robert Morris University, St. Rita High School, St. Ignatius College Prep and Chicago State University.
A founding member of the Illinois State High School Sports Medicine Advisory Committee, Dr. Wolin also has been Vice President of the Conference USA Medical Committee and a consultant to the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Kevin Chen, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand, wrist and upper extremity surgery of the shoulder and elbow. He earned his medical degree from and completed his residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Chen completed his fellowship training in hand and upper extremity at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
Dr. Chen treats arthritic and chronic conditions, as well as the full range of upper extremity disorders, such as rotator cuff tears (old and new), shoulder and elbow instability, tennis and golfers elbow, and repetitive motion injuries including carpal tunnel syndrome and sports injuries. Benjamin Goldberg, M.D.

Benjamin Goldberg, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He specializes in shoulder, elbow and knee surgery, as well as general orthopaedics, limb deformity and fracture care. He performs many upper extremity joint replacements as well as minimally invasive shoulder and elbow surgery.
While earning his undergraduate and medical degrees from Northwestern University, Dr. Goldberg participated in the Honors Program in Medical Education, combining both programs into six years, and he received his B.S. and M.D. with distinction. Dr. Goldberg completed his surgical internship and orthopedic residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he won an American Orthopaedic Association Residency Award. He additionally had the highest scores in North America on the Orthopedic In-Training Examination (OITE), which measures knowledge among orthopedic surgery residents.
After he completed his residency, Dr. Goldberg trained at the University of Washington, where he had advanced training in shoulder and elbow pathology. Additionally, he trained at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, as well as Lyon, France, where he trained with European shoulder experts and learned muscle transfers about the shoulder and reverse shoulder arthroplasty years before the procedure was FDA approved.
Dr. Goldberg had additional training in Lecco, Italy, at the Ospidale di Lecco/ASAMI, which specialized in limb deformity correction, limb lengthening and complex fracture management. While in Lecco, he worked with the European pioneers of the Ilizarov method.
Dr. Goldberg consults with the orthopaedic industry to design and improve orthopaedic implants, instruments, joint replacements and techniques of the shoulder and elbow. He has instructed orthopaedic surgeons in the surgical treatment of multiple conditions nationally and internationally. He was inducted into the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, which is the premier association of worldwide shoulder and elbow surgeons. Dr. Goldberg has contributed to or authored more than 50 publications and has presented at numerous national and international meetings. He is fluent in Spanish.

Eldin Karaikovic, M.D., Ph.D., started his practice in 2002, after graduating from the University of Sarajevo in Bosnia. As a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, he specializes in pediatric and adult spinal deformities, short segment fixation for scoliosis and thoracolumbar fractures, kyphoplasty, artificial discs, and herniated cervical and lumbar discs.
Since joining the team at NorthShore University HealthSystem, Dr. Karaikovic has operated on hundreds of patients and earned the Most Dynamic Practice Award for patient loyalty as well as numerous CARE Awards for Excellence in Patient Care. Dr. Karaikovic also travels the world, training surgeons at highly respected medical centers as well as surgeons at local hospitals in developing world countries. He is one of a handful of surgeons in the United States capable of conducting a technique called short segment spinal instrumentation and fusion surgery. The innovative technique is used to treat adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, a condition that, if left untreated, can lead to sometimes life-threatening medical problems.
Following medical school, Dr. Karaikovic — fluent in English, Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian — came to the United States. He completed his internship, residency and fellowship in adult and pediatric spine orthopedics at the University of Missouri, as well as another fellowship in orthopedic trauma at New York University. In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Karaikovic also conducts research. He focuses on biomechanical studies on spinal instrumentations, such as cervical pedicle screws, and post-graduate teaching. He has co-authored more than 30 papers and book chapters, given more than 90 presentations and been an invited speaker more than 60 times.

Jeannette Kelly, D.O., is a non-surgical, osteopathic sports medicine physician. She cares for patients of all ages, from the pediatric to geriatric population, whether it be sprained ankles, fracture care, or arthritis management. Dr. Kelly takes a holistic approach to medicine, embracing osteopathic philosophies. She routinely practices Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) on her patients, as another treatment option to help manage pain, and to prevent injuries. Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, Dr. Ko completed medical school and his residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of British Columbia. After residency, he completed a clinical fellowship in Orthopedic Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at Northwestern Memorial Hospital/Northwestern University. He is dual board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC).

Thomas A. McNally, MD, is the medical director of the Spine Center at the Chicago Center for Orthopedics and Robotic-Assisted Surgery. Michael Rosen, D.C.M., is a licensed chiropractor trained in orthopedic care, chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, cold laser, occupational health, and physical therapy and rehabilitation. He earned his doctor of chiropractic medicine degree and acupuncture certification from National University of Health Sciences. He also holds a certification in pregnancy and pediatric care from the International Chiropractic Association.
Dr. Rosen received a bachelor’s degree in human biology from the National University of Health Sciences, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Northern Illinois University. His research on the benefits of mechanical manipulation of the sacroiliac joint was recently published in the Orthopedic Research Online Journal.

Preston Wolin, M.D., is the director and founder of the Center for Athletic Medicine, Ltd. Founded in 1991, the center provides multispecialty care to every level of athlete, from children to professionals.Dr. Wolin has served as a team doctor for DePaul University, Loyola University, University of Illinois at Chicago, the Chicago Fire (Major League Soccer), United States Soccer National Men’s and Women’s Teams and the Windy City ThunderBolts (Frontier League in Professional Baseball). He is also the team doctor for Robert Morris University, St. Rita High School, St. Ignatius College Prep and Chicago State University.
A founding member of the Illinois State High School Sports Medicine Advisory Committee, Dr. Wolin also has been Vice President of the Conference USA Medical Committee and a consultant to the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He also has a subspecialty certificate in sports medicine from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
With considerable expertise in workers’ compensation, Dr. Wolin is consulted by workers’ and employers’ attorneys. He has spoken before many workers’ compensation groups, including insurance adjustors, nurse case managers and attorneys. He has served as Chairman of the Illinois State Medical Society’s Workers Compensation Task Force.

Nathan G. Wetters, M.D, is a fellowship-trained physician specializing in Sports Medicine, with special focus on minimally invasive treatment of the knee and shoulder including cartilage transplant and restoration. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Nathan obtained both his undergraduate degree and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois. He went on to complete his Orthopaedic training at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago before further specializing in Sports Medicine and Shoulder & Elbow Surgery at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Dr. Wetters has served as a Team Physician for both the Carolina Panthers (NFL) and Chicago White Sox (MLB). He has also provided coverage for a number of collegiate teams including UNC-Charlotte, Davidson College, Gardner Webb University. He has special interest in treating injuries of athletes from the youth to professional levels. This includes stem cell injections, ligament reconstruction, cartilage restoration and comprehensive shoulder treatment. Specifically, Dr. Wetters has expertise in rotator cuff repair, shoulder replacement and reverse shoulder replacement.
