Advanced Robotic-Assisted Surgical Technology for Joint Replacement

At the Chicago Center for Orthopedics and Robotic-Assisted Surgery, we utilize the ROSA® Knee System from Zimmer Biomet for a customized surgical approach to each patient’s knee replacement. ROSA, which stands for Robotic Surgical Assistant, is designed to help our specially trained orthopedic surgeons tailor the placement of each patient’s knee implant.

Who is a Candidate for Same-Day Surgery?

Patients qualify for same-day knee or hip joint replacement surgery based on their age, medical conditions, overall health, home support, motivation and ability to receive home health therapy. A healthcare partner—typically a family member or friend—must be available for all visits to the surgeon, present during the hospital stay, and at home with you for at least five days after surgery. An in-home physical /occupational therapy evaluation will also be required. Based on all of these factors, you, your partner, and your surgeon will decide if you are a candidate to go home on the same day of your surgery, or the next day.

A Multidisciplinary Team for Individualized Care

At the Chicago Center for Orthopedics and Robotic-Assisted Surgery an orthopedic navigator manages the care of each patient, including pre-admission screening and education, arranging pre/post-acute rehabilitation needs and post-surgical follow up. The navigator is part of a multidisciplinary team of clinical experts, including skilled nurses, physical therapists, and pain specialists all focused on getting you home as safely and quickly as possible. From pre-operative education and pain management to orthopedic rehabilitation and recovery, our outpatient surgical team will guide you every step of the way.
